Finals are done! I really only had one final to worry about, but either way, I'm done! Below is my color render(had to use a camera, scanner is out of service at the moment!), black and white render, and my photo reference. Can't wait to eat vegetarian spring rolls and celebrate with my class tomorrow!

and a pleasant surprise! when I unwrapped the scrap newsprint that was covering my painting, I found this on the inside!

I just really wanted pizza during figure drawing one day...

Alameda Art Works

I had to kick myself in the butt to stop moping and start drawing, so I went to a life drawing session at Alameda Art Works. It was such a pleasure! The people were so nice (granted I was the youngest by many years) but it was great to be in such a small, relaxed environment. Don, the owner of the studio we used, played smooth jazz music, and after every song, everyone would look up and say "That was great!"....I thought my heart was going to burst from the sincerity and good feelings hahah. This is the model, Lissa!

The price is a bit inflated compared to SHM figure drawings, but it is a private studio, and you do get the nice company and longer poses!

a 40 minute pose.
a 20 min. head drawing.

Color Study

This is a color study I was doing of my favorite model in a restaurant. Colors are hard...

I'm back!

So this is for an assignment with my Word of the Week group on facebook. The objective was to redraw a drawing we had done in the past. I decided to redraw this little gem...

because I saw it peeking out from the closet. I must have drawn this when I was about ten..I still remember what I was going for though! I do believe this is a girl who just had magical powers bestowed upon her by a magic, purple gem.

This is my new version!

I only started drawing this yesterday, so it's not very far along, but I wanted to post it because it seems like one of those things that I'm going to leave hanging. I'm in a strange point in my life where I  "know better" (storytelling..who is she, where is she from, etc. what's in the background..etc...) but I'm still trying to work out the kinks to GET better! Instead of focusing on all that good stuff, I used this as a means to just kind of let loose and play around with digital painting :D this was extremely fun though, and I hope I can someday redraw this again to make it a fully fledged illustration!

Got a midterm tomorrow for discrete math! I'm ready! BORN READY!

So yesterday I formatted my computer, I've had it for about 3 years so it's still chugging along fine, but I figured I needed to clean out all the clutter. Turns out I had about 200GB worth of clutter -________-.

I'm back to blogging after a busy couple weeks, right now I'm reformatting my computer, already installed windows and everything, so now I'm just getting my essential programs. I shall be back afterwards with an update!

Have a song:

Some Academia

I like the word "academia" because it reminds me of the word "macadamia". Anyway, I thought I would post some stuff up of what I have been doing this semester!

Back at School

Yep. Haven't been posting much since I started school again, but I made this during a figure drawing session tonight, and I thought it looked kind of cool! It's done in black pen, red micron, cherry red, and carmine water color pencil, and to tie it all together, WATER BRUSH PEN!

my greatest investment (7 dollars at Robert's Bookstore) of all time! Just fill it with water and you're good to go! I've done plenty of drawings with just one fill too!

Arjay made my desktop all fancy! Pascal Campion's artwork is just too good! Makes for a great wallpaper :D

Post #This don't count.

Had a midterm today to study for, and two quizzes tomorrow, which will explain why I didn't post yesterday and why I'm not posting today. Sorry! The analysis of the top 50 "best" game endings by Guinness will continue tomorrow.

'Ave some songs for now.'s not her song, but I like her voice better. So shoot me, hahaha.

Anyone who has noticed the pattern will know that I've seen the movie Cadillac Records recently. Hahahah, it ain't too good, but I really like the music from that era, so any movie with that genre I'll watch without question.

Chalk Heart Candy

I am in a creative rut today, but enjoy some of Pascal Campion's art. He is a man who seemingly never gets creative ruts, but really, he probably just powers through them!
Post #16: Internet, ya done fucked up.

So a couple days ago Guinness' World Records released a list of the best 50 video game endings, aaanndd...

it's..pretty bad...

Flirting and Protesting

I woke up on Saturday morning with a nagging feeling in the pit of my stomach. I turned on my computer and went to to check one last time...where was the San Jose ACTA protest going to take place again? All week I had known about the day of action but I wasn't planning on going.

Sorry for the short post yesterday, I had a soccer game and I was pooped.
Today I'm not too sore, which is good, but my ankle is still sore after I rolled it yesterday.

Anyway, the Grammys are today and in honor of Skrillex winning a whopping 3 awards. I'll post a Skrillex thang here.

Post 14: I'm tired today.

Had a soccer tournament, I'll post tomorrow

So in that drawing I made of Dood 'n Rook in the style of Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes, Arjay was bothered that he didn't get to be Calvin. So in order to show Arjay how disturbing and impractical it would be if I were Hobbes, and he were Calvin, I just drew up this quick sketch.

I saw this on the cover of one of Arjay's Calvin and Hobbes collections in his bathroom and thought it would be appropriate, unfortunately I haven't been in there long enough to flip through it yet.

Today I saw the Statue of Liberty change shifts. There's a tax place a couple blocks away from where I live who has people dressed up as the Statue of Liberty to advertise their place. Today I saw TWO, count 'em TWO statues of liberty, but it was only for a fleeting moment, as the other one walked walked and faded into nothingness. :|

Anyway.. check this out.

Everyone, I'd like you to meet Tim. Tim Tams.

My sister has been strangely emotional lately.
Post #12: Oh, you know nothin' much, just...

Got my sweet sweet new baby monitor! I've got 3 screens set up, two are dedicated to my laptop and one is dedicated to my xbox, which would be the new giant monitor that Mimi gave to me. As I wait for this guy on Fifa to stop watching the end of the game highlights I'll get on with me postin eh?

Please don't think less of me..

So Tuesdays are my agonizingly long days at school, but so far I've been pretty good at keeping myself occupied for five hours while I wait for my evening class to start.

Post #12: Cleaned my room today

Before the jump I'll post my song so if people just want to listen to it they don't need to look inside my post, but if you do so happen to read further there's a couple more songs in store for ya!

See you after the jump!

Edit: I done forgot it's Music Tuesday! Have another song!

Chromeo and Ezra from Vampire Weekend, can't go wrong with that.

A Soft Revolution

I took this title from a song by the band Stars, I thought it applies to how I feel about this project that I
saw from a friend on facebook. I just had to share it! It's a really awesome idea that's partly art and partly revolutionary against the forces that are compromising the integrity of the internet we know and love! But mainly it's just a really cool idea. Check it out!

Post #11: No Slickdeals socks yet..:

Hallo. Today was monday, and today was boring. I had all three classes today, my math classes are alright, they're not long enough for me to get bored in, but my Unix class is just stoops. Hahaha.

So Mimi's dad is going to buy her a new widescreen monitor, and guess who gets her old one. DISGUY. If I can clear enough space on my desk.. I can have 3 monitors. Yep, just sit and let that one sink in for a while... Ahhhhh..

One of the Greatest Things in Life

Are watercolor pencils! I just bought some today from Michael's Crafts store. I wasn't really expecting the pencils to be so great for the price, but they are! Even better that they were only five dollars! Here are some experiments I did

Break is over, bleh!

I haven't been posting because I've been back at school. Which is good, but sometimes a drag. Anyhow...I thought I would just loosen up and just appreciate the good stuff in life! This is Dood 'n Roosk in a parody of Arjay's favorite comics, Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes!!! Cynicism and optimism in perfect harmony!

Post #9: Everyday I check Slickdeals for socks

Short post today. I gots a quiz and a midterm to study for on Friday. Have two songs of the day

Post #8: I've gone into overdrive. Also, Music Tuesday!

I've been going crazy with my schoolwork, I'm on top of it! Well..starting this week I am. Technically I'm still a little behind in calculus since I spent this week catching up, buuut by tomorrow I plan to be caught up! Finally! I made my binder all neat and tidy, separating my notes and my homework, same for discrete mathematics. I think I'll do good this quarter if I keep this up.

Anyway, I'm pooped from all the work I did today, so instead of taking a game break I figured I'd return with another Music Tuesday! Hopefully this one catches on better than last weeks :|.

Curiouser and Curiouser...

I don't mean to quote Alice from Lewis Carol's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, but that's just how I've been feeling lately.

We live in such a curious world...anyhow, here's a short animated film I stumbled upon a while ago. It is beautifully made and beautifully told. I hope you check out this little gem, it's well worth it!

You're a part time lover and a full time friend...

A New Kind of Revolution

The group Anonymous has been of interest to me lately. I can't yet decide whether or not I support them, but they are sure interesting. Arjay posted about them before and he called them the "internet Robin Hood group". Whatever they are, good or bad, or a little of both, they are a powerful icon nationwide.

I don't watch football.

         Chuch Mung Nam Moi!

At midnight it will be lunar new year! So happy new year to everyone! This year is the year of the dragon, so I made this quick painting to celebrate. When doing fire at night scenes, I love using mainly orange and blue colors to bring about the mood of warm, bright lights!

I wish everyone a year filled with health and vitality, good will, and peace of mind!

I wake up in five hours

I come home at nearly 5AM and what do I decide to do? I decide to read Arjay's blog post and write one of my own. I don't usually spend so much time with girls but today was just girl power day. I went to the Tet festival at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds with my good friend and we spent the afternoon ambling through the park.

Post #2: Today I made this...

We Hope you Will Enjoy the Show!

Actually, we were compelled to make this blog because I was too hermit-like with my solitary blog, and I thought that having a conjoined blog would remedy my blog constipation if you will.

Just so that I don't use the word "blog" one more time, I guess I could introduce myself as well-I love art but I'm also quite hermit-like with my drawings. Hopefully this will help me loosen up and explore more about art, but most importantly keep the cogs running, especially when I'm not in school. As far as introductions go, I'm afraid I've run dry for now, but I was highly anticipating the text wrap around the picture and now I am satisfied. I'll end it here and go play Kingdom Rush since Arjay conveniently left the link here! Good night to you all!
Post #1: My internet is laggy

First post, first post! This is a blog shared by Mimi and I, although I don't quite know what I'll be posting, perhaps just things I find interesting. Her stuff on the other hand, consists of casual drawings, photoshop doodles, blah blah. Much cooler.
