I had to kick myself in the butt to stop moping and start drawing, so I went to a life drawing session at Alameda Art Works. It was such a pleasure! The people were so nice (granted I was the youngest by many years) but it was great to be in such a small, relaxed environment. Don, the owner of the studio we used, played smooth jazz music, and after every song, everyone would look up and say "That was great!"....I thought my heart was going to burst from the sincerity and good feelings hahah. This is the model, Lissa!
The price is a bit inflated compared to SHM figure drawings, but it is a private studio, and you do get the nice company and longer poses!
a 40 minute pose.
a 20 min. head drawing.

I'm back!
So this is for an assignment with my Word of the Week group on facebook. The objective was to redraw a drawing we had done in the past. I decided to redraw this little gem...
because I saw it peeking out from the closet. I must have drawn this when I was about ten..I still remember what I was going for though! I do believe this is a girl who just had magical powers bestowed upon her by a magic, purple gem.
This is my new version!
I only started drawing this yesterday, so it's not very far along, but I wanted to post it because it seems like one of those things that I'm going to leave hanging. I'm in a strange point in my life where I "know better" (storytelling..who is she, where is she from, etc. what's in the background..etc...) but I'm still trying to work out the kinks to GET better! Instead of focusing on all that good stuff, I used this as a means to just kind of let loose and play around with digital painting :D this was extremely fun though, and I hope I can someday redraw this again to make it a fully fledged illustration!

Back at School
Yep. Haven't been posting much since I started school again, but I made this during a figure drawing session tonight, and I thought it looked kind of cool! It's done in black pen, red micron, cherry red, and carmine water color pencil, and to tie it all together, WATER BRUSH PEN!
my greatest investment (7 dollars at Robert's Bookstore) of all time! Just fill it with water and you're good to go! I've done plenty of drawings with just one fill too!
